Abstract

In this study, the perceptions of individuals residing in the Bandırma district of Balıkesir regarding the measures taken during the Covid-19 pandemic were examined. This study, which was planned descriptively, was conducted with 276 individuals aged 15 and above. In the face-to-face study, a survey form was used to collect the socio-demographic characteristics of individuals and their opinions on Covid-19 measures. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics with the SPSS 22 program in a computer environment. Of the participants in the study, 65% were female, and 31% had a high school education. While 26,4% were employed in the private sector, 26,1% were not working. 11,6% of the participants reported having contracted Covid-19, and more than half of them stated that they started paying more attention to their behaviors after the illness. The anxiety level related to contracting Covid-19 was determined to be 5 for 23,6% of the participants. The majority of participants (68,5% to 93,8%) stated that they adhered to the Covid-19 prevention measures. However, the percentage of those who believed in the effectiveness of these measures decreased (51,4% to 67,3%). According to the research, the majority of participants reported being careful about wearing masks (86,2%), maintaining physical distance (87,0%), and washing their hands after touching a contaminated object or being outside (93,8%). In the study, it was observed that individuals exhibited a high level of compliance with the Covid-19 prevention measures, but they held a less positive view regarding the effectiveness of these measures.
