Davranışsal ekonomi bilimi, bireylerin karar alma mekanizmaları hakkında önemli bilgiler sunmaktadır. Sağlık alanında bireyler sağlıksız beslenme, tütün kullanımı, sedanter yaşam gibi kendileri için zararlı olabilecek yaşam tarzlarını da seçebilmektedir. Ekonomiyi, karar alma sürecini inceleyen bilimlerle bütünleştiren davranışsal ekonomi anlayışı, sağlık alanında verilen kararların anlaşılması için kullanılabilir ve bireysel düzeye ek olarak toplumsal düzeyde de halk sağlığı uygulamalarının etkililiğini artırabilir. Bu makalede davranışsal ekonomi kavramı, uygulamaları, kullanım alanları ve halk sağlığı başta olmak üzere sağlık alanında pratikte kullanımı örneklerle anlatılmıştır.
