Özet

Ebeler, afetlerde toplum bağışıklığının sürdürülmesinde önemli sağlık profesyonelleridir. Gebeler, çocuklar ve bebekler afetlerde en korunmasız gruplardır. Anne çocuk sağlığının sürdürülmesinde ebelik hizmetleri önem taşımaktadır. Afetler; yenidoğan ve çocukların hem sağlık hem de güvenliklerini tehdit etmekte ve gelişimleri üzerinde uzun süreli etkiler bırakabilmektedir. Afetlerde yenidoğan ve çocuk sağlığının korunması ve desteklenmesi, toplumların en hassas ve savunmasız üyelerinin refahını korumak için hayati öneme sahiptir. Bu tür acil durumlarda daha iyi karar verme, koordinasyon ve müdahale konusunda çeşitli aktörler yenidoğan ve çocuk sağlığına odaklanan hizmetler sunmalıdır. Ebeler, sahip oldukları bilgi ve beceriler, birinci basamak sağlık hizmeti sağlamaya yönelik konumları ve hizmet verdikleri topluluklara coğrafi ve sosyal yakınlıkları nedeniyle özellikle çocuk ve yenidoğanın sağlık ihtiyaçlarını karşılamada kilit rol oynarlar. Afetlerde yenidoğan ve çocuk sağlığı hizmetlerinde ebelik bakımı; hayat kurtarma, acıyı hafifletme ve insan onurunu korumayı içermelidir. Fakat afet ortamlarında yenidoğan ve çocuk ölümlerinin önlenmesi ve sağlığın korunması için gereken ebelik hizmetlerine ilişkin bilgi eksikliği mevcuttur. Bu nedenle bu derleme, afetlerde yenidoğan ve çocuk sağlığına yönelik ebelik hizmetlerini açıklamayı amaçlamıştır.
